Rainbow franchise information

A leading disaster recovery service for insurers, brokers and loss adjusters, Rainbow International belongs to the global franchising network The Dwyer Group, which was founded in Texas. If youve always dreamt of running your own business with a successful international brand, consider setting up a franchise with Rainbow.

More about Rainbow International

Now home to more than 60 locations across the UK, Rainbow International has established itself as the country's most trusted company for disaster restoring and specialist cleaning services.

Founded in the U.S before expanding to the other side of the Atlantic in 1987, Rainbow International is owned by one of the largest facility service providers in the world, the ISS Group, which provides outstanding support for the franchise network and its partners. The network also includes over 300 services locations in North America and was proud to be a finalist of the UKs bfa Franchisor of the Year Awards for 2016.

The franchise model

Over time, Rainbow International's business model has developed from a simple 'man in the van' idea to a much more sophisticated global cleaning and restoration concept, with sustainable franchise models all across the UK. This cleaning franchise works under a simple but clear slogan: 'we restore, you recover', and is passionate about serving communities by restoring homes and businesses.

The joining process

Although Rainbow International has a rigorous recruitment process, this franchisor is eager to get to know its candidates so it can get a good idea of whether they're the right fit for the network.

Once you join this bricks and mortar business, you'll be running your franchise under a tried-and-tested business model and a widely recognised trusted global brand. As a franchisee, you'll have responsibility for the overall strategic operations of your franchise territory and its development and performance.

What Rainbow International looks for in prospective franchisees

This franchisor is interested in ambitious individuals with strong sales skills and a commitment to delivering excellent services. No formal experience in the recovery and cleaning services industry is necessary for setting up a franchise with Rainbow International. However, this network does look for candidates with at least three years of experience in managing departmental staff, ideally in a customer services/sales environment. You'll also need to be familiar with IT and CRM systems or similar software, and have project management experience in challenging situations.

Training and support

Like all of the most successful franchises, Rainbow International provides its franchisees with intensive training so they can quickly learn how to use the network's state-of-the-art facilities. This will also include ongoing support and mentoring to help you become familiar with the franchise model, maximise your operational efficiency, and grow your new franchise into a profitable business. Every franchisee will benefit from world-class technology to enable them to work as smoothly as possible and automate their tasks to increase their earnings.

Also, Rainbow International offers a 100-day support programme, a branded vehicle, a designated, protected area so you can market your franchise and build a large customer base, a marketing toolkit including a personalised website and branded materials, and a dedicated support manager to guide you through your initial training.

The support programme will teach you everything you need to know to run your new cleaning franchise, from how to generate sales leads to administration, software, invoices and determining your prices. You'll also have the opportunity to attend regular regional meetings and an annual conference, where you can learn about Rainbow International's latest initiatives and get to know your fellow franchisees. This is a great chance to exchange feedback and learn about best practices from the network's long-established franchises.

Rainbow International's Glasgow partner, Noreen, has worked at the network for two decades and enjoys the fact that two days are never the same. In December 1995, Noreen discovered one night that her neighbour's house was on fire. The following day, Rainbow International restored the damage, and Noreen was amazed at how quickly Rainbow transformed their property. In 1996, she noticed there was a new Rainbow International Glasgow branch available, so her husband, Kevin, decided to invest in the business by setting up a franchise.

Although Noreen was working in banking at the time, she later chose to join the franchise on a part-time basis so it would be easier for them to start a family. Sadly, years later, Noreen's husband became seriously ill, so she stepped in to take control of the franchise. Although it was a steep learning curve, she received invaluable support from Rainbow's head office to help her get the business on track. Because most of Kevin and Noreen's business is self-generating, they spend much of their time promoting the franchise by attending talks and exhibitions, networking, and meeting people.

Like other owners of the UKs most successful franchises, Noreen is passionate about making sure her team always do a great job. Indeed, one of the main advantages of her role is that she can leave all the technical stuff to those with the expertise. Plus, with over a dozen staff in the business, she achieves an excellent work/life balance, being able to take her kids to school and be back home when they return.

Noreen is just one of numerous success stories of driven, hard-working individuals who have built successful businesses by setting up a franchise with Rainbow International. Perhaps you could be next.
