A happy Mathnasium franchisee from the Vancouver area of Canada has been sharing the reasons why she loves her business so much.
A Vancouver franchisee has been sharing the story of what motivated her to open her own Mathnasium franchise.
Manju Ranamuka opened her franchise earlier this year and explained that she saw the need for the tutoring franchise to help change children’s view of Maths.
“Math was my favourite subject when I was a child - I enjoyed the challenges it offered. But we understand there are students who don’t share that view and even think math is evil.”
She explained how Mathnasium’s unique approach means that every child is thoroughly assessed before beginning the tutoring programme, ensuring that its skilled and caring instructors can deliver a personalised programme that will benefit them the most. Ranamuka compared the process to getting a medical diagnosis, saying:
“If you are a doctor you can reach a diagnosis based on the patient’s symptoms. Here, we have instructors who are trained to diagnose those areas where students struggle with math. That’s why when a child comes to our centre, the first thing we do is talk to them and their parents to find out what their situation is. Sometimes, it’s a child’s lack of confidence, even if they master the concepts.”
Once children begin their tailored learning programme, Ranamuka said that it’s fantastic to see the impact it has on them and added that improving their confidence in Maths can have a positive effect on their whole education.
And interested parents don’t just have to take her word for it, as Mathnasium’s 900 centres across the globe all show children making measurable academic and personal progress after starting its programme. This global success was part of the appeal for Ranamuka, as she said it was encouraging to pursue her dream of teaching within such a successful company.
