When children step into our workshop, magic happens as they work their way through the interactive bear-making station creating their own personalized stuffed animal. With over 30 furry friends to make and hundreds of outfits and accessories to choose from, each experience becomes a new one for them. But our cuddly bears are not just for the kids. They can be excellent gifts for the grown-ups and the young-at-heart and perfect presents for graduations, birthdays, weddings, or baby showers.

At Build-A-Bear, we take product safety very seriously. We acknowledge that we have a great responsibility in providing our customers with safe products. Our products are made from high quality, man-made materials or natural fibres such as cotton and our stuffing is made from high-grade polyester fibre. Our products are subjected to rigid testing by an independent third-party lab for compliance with toy safety standards. We ensure that all Build-A-Bear products have a passing test report on record prior to shipping from our suppliers.

As a Build-A-Bear Workshop franchisee, a franchisee can expect full support & assistance from management. Our franchisees receive comprehensive training in all aspects of business. The successful candidate will be assisted with store design, equipment, and fixtures. Franchisees will also be given access to the buying power of more than 400 Build-A-Bear Workshop & registered stores around the world. Ongoing support from an experienced operations team as well as product development will also be given. As a franchisee, you get support with information technology and retail site reviews. The overall goal is to help the franchisee grow & succeed with their business.  

We are looking for potential franchisees who are responsible for operating all Build-A-Bear Workshop within the UK. The right candidate should have a strong background in retail or franchising, extensive knowledge of the local real estate market, and a commitment to develop the Build-A-Bear workshop culture. To be considered for our franchise program, a territory must have the potential for the development of at least 15 stores. The potential franchisee should also meet the financial requirement of ₤3 million to ₤9 million working capital. The franchisee must also be a residence of the territory they have in mind.  

How The Dream Began

Build-A-Bear Workshop was founded by Maxine Clark in 1997. The company was born from an idea that Clark and her friend Katie had when they shopped for stuffed toys. When they could not find that Katie wanted, Maxine thought of making them and the rest was history.
