Summer franchises

Some franchises see the same level of business all year. Others experience seasonal peaks. Feel suited to the challenge of running a seasonally-focused franchise that could actually allow you to thrive all year round? Here are six amazing franchise opportunities that come alive in warmer weather.

Some of the best franchise opportunities out there are viable all year, but particularly in-demand during the summer. From ice cream shops to travel agents, here are six franchise opportunities that benefit from a summer boom.

What is a seasonal franchise?

As touched upon above, a seasonal franchise is a business that either only operates during a certain season, or sees more business than usual during a certain season. This could be an event decoration company around Christmas, for example, or gardeners during the springtime.

Six summery seasonal franchise opportunities

1. Baskin Robbins

3.5 million people in Great Britain eat ice cream two to three times a week [Statista], with more ice cream being consumed in summer than in any other season. On hot summer days, cravings for ice cream send people rushing through the doors of franchises like Baskin Robbins. Established in 1945 by Burt Baskin and Irv Robbins, the industry-leading ice cream franchise has over 150 UK stores, and is constantly developing new and exciting flavours, growing its menu and its customer base.

To become a Baskin Robbins franchisee, you’ll need to make a minimum investment of £500,000. You’ll be charged a monthly advertising fee at a rate of 2%. The ideal Baskin Robbins franchisee would be:

  • Ready and able to satisfy guests with various approved Baskin Robbins products

  • Willing to develop at least ten Baskin Robbins franchise units in reasonable timing

  • Experienced in the retail, food service and multi-unit quick service sectors

  • Skilled at negotiating and sourcing real estate

  • Passionate about the local community

  • Passionate about ice cream

  • Dedicated to operational excellence

  • Planning for the long-term, with a strategic vision for brand development

In return for your investment, you’ll receive intensive training and have access to all the support you need in order to succeed.

2. Desjoyaux Pools

During the hotter months, the pool covers come off. Desjoyaux Pools is one of the largest swimming pool manufacturers in the world, and is now established in over 80 countries. During its 50 years in the industry, the Desjoyaux network has developed a range of innovative products fit for both personal and commercial use.

To become a franchisee with the construction franchise, you’ll need to make a minimum investment of £50,000. You won’t need any previous experience - people of all abilities are welcome to invest with Desjoyaux Pools. In return for your investment, you’ll receive:

  • Sales training

  • Installation training

  • Management training

  • Ongoing access to franchisor support

3. GoCruise

In the UK, the high season occurs between June and August. This timeframe is the most popular period in which to travel abroad, and many travel franchises see a considerable boom in the summer months. One such travel franchise benefitting from the boom is GoCruise. The online franchise is the UK’s largest cruise agency, with a network of over 60 franchisees operating throughout the country.

To become a GoCruise franchisee, you’ll need to make a minimum investment of £13,000. The ideal GoCruise franchisee would be someone professional and passionate about sales.

In return for your investment with the nationally recognised company, you’ll receive:

  • Your own operational territory

  • Training

  • Marketing support

  • Access to the existing customer base

  • Access to a dedicated head office support team

4. Just Shutters

Summer often gets people thinking about how to block out the sometimes unwanted sunshine. Whether it’s waking you up at the crack of dawn, or making it harder to put your child down for a nap, you can create some peaceful darkness with the help of high quality shutters.

Just Shutters, which was founded in 2006 by Chris Rocker, produces beautiful made-to-measure shutters, which are supplied and fitted to homes across the UK. It’s now the fastest growing independent retail shutter company in the UK, and has installed over £27 million worth of shutters into the homes of customers.

To invest with the blinds and shutters franchise, you’ll need to put in a minimum of £27,000, with total investment costs of £40,000. No prior experience is required as a Just Shutters franchisee, but you will need enthusiasm, desire to succeed and good people skills. In return for your investment, you’ll be given:

  • Training (including sales and installation training in the field)

  • An exceptional marketing and website launch package

  • Trading samples and sales packs

  • Ongoing marketing, sales and business support

Established in 2012 by Yi Ping Goh and Chuan Hong Khaw, Mooboo soon became one of the major players in the UK bubble tea world. Mooboo proudly produces a huge range of flavours, more than 1,000 in total, and has a range of outlets based in Coventry, Leeds, Hertfordshire, Newcastle, Scotland and London. To invest with the bubble tea franchise, you’ll need to put in a minimum of £39,950. The ideal Mooboo franchisee would be:
