Dunkin’ Donuts officially shortens its name
Dunkin’ Donuts has dropped ‘donuts’ from its name, but not its menu.
The popular franchise Dunkin’ Donuts has changed its brand name to ‘Dunkin’ in a move to reinforce its other offerings and re-establish itself as a food chain with a wide variety of sweet and savoury foodstuffs as well as hot and cold drinks.
Keeping the unmistakable pink and orange scheme that has distinguished the company’s branding since 1973, the bakery franchise has instead modernised its product packaging, from food and drink boxes to napkins. While the company’s intention to change its name was first revealed in September 2018, the updated packaging will be found in American outlets by the end of January.
The chain’s Instagram and Twitter accounts are the first to usher in the change, sporting the new ‘Dunkin’ branding.
While the brand does offer 52 different varieties of doughnuts, it also sells over 30 cups of coffee every second from 33 countries around the world. Over a dozen coffee variations, as well as pastries, cookies, bagels, ciabattas and baked foods contribute to the company’s status as the world’s leading baked goods and coffee chain.
Swift on the heels of this branding change is the company’s introduction of some new menu items for the new year. A Power Breakfast Sandwich comprises a cheesy egg-white omelette made with spinach, peppers, onions and turkey on seeded, multigrain bread. In addition to this, a new coffee, the Energy Cold Brew, provides a caffeine hit as the brand’s standard cold coffee drink with an extra shot of freshly-brewed espresso.
First established by William Rosenberg in 1950, the company has branched across the world from its home in Massachusetts to successfully become a world-renowned brand, serving more than five million hungry customers every day day in over 11,000 outlets worldwide. Introducing fresh ideas on constantly evolving seasonal menus, Dunkin’ continues to be one of the most relevant and exciting bakery franchises.
