Training and support provided

When choosing to franchise with Schmidt, you will have access to a comprehensive training scheme. A fourteen-week programme will guide you throughout the process of setting up your franchise, offering you both theoretical and practical training ahead of the showrooms opening, as well as long-term support as you continue to trade.

The knowledge you will gain during our training scheme is specific and wide-ranging, and includes guidance on marketing, IT, sales and showroom layout. By the end of the programme, you will have an in-depth knowledge of the Schmidt brand and our products, and use Schmidt sales procedures with ease and confidence. You will also gain valuable technological experience using our resources and will be able to design kitchens with our CAD software, in addition to utilising reporting and management software tools.

Furthermore, we will collaborate with your accountant to assist you in the creation of your business plan and even accompany you as you promote it to the bank to secure your loan.

Schmidt retail franchise

The ideal Schmidt franchisee

The opening of a new Schmidt branch requires a business-orientated franchisee with a positive and hands-on approach. You will not need to have industry knowledge or experience. The premises should ideally be between 150 and 350 square meters and on a high street or primary road in a city centre, or in a retail park, but dont worry about that as we can help secure your ideal premises with our retained partner.

Schmidt displays eye-catching exterior signage provided by Schmidt Groupe in accordance with the brand style and specifications. Inside the store, Schmidt relies on showcasing a wide selection of the companys offerings, representative of our extensive range of kitchens and interior solutions.

A standard Schmidt franchise will require a personal investment in the region of £80,000. While you will invest into your Schmidt franchise, it will also be financed by a bank loan (which typically makes up 40 percent of the overall project cost) while Schmidt itself will finance up to 30 percent of your franchise, subsidising the supply and installation of the showroom concept.

Founded by Hubert Schmidt in 1934, we have a long history of providing quality homeware at an affordable price. In 1989, the recognisable showroom layout which characterises our outlets today was born, and since then we have expanded to open 710 showrooms in 25 countries worldwide.

With abundant experience delighting customers with our exclusive products under our belts, we have ambitious plans for our future development. Franchisees help to extend the reach of the Schmidt brand by operating showrooms across our network.

While our company has seen positive results in Germany, France and Spain, we intend to develop further within the UK, which stands as the third largest consumer of kitchen furniture in Europe. We currently have 22 showrooms in the UK, with 4 more due to open in the 1st half of 2019 and aim to increase our presence. Having steadily built on our successful business model over time and established Schmidt across the world, we see huge potential in the future of our brand.
