Concept Building Solutions has shared how homeowners across the UK can make sure their homes are ready for the harsh winter weather conditions.
Rain, wind, snow and ice are common throughout the winter months, but they can wreak havoc on our homes if we don’t take the right precautions to make sure they’re protected. That’s why insurance franchise Concept Building Solutions has been sharing its check list for making sure your home is ready for the harsh conditions of the months ahead.
The franchise first advised homeowners to check the roof of their building, as this can take a real battering in high winds and during particularly wet days. It advised people to enlist the services of a chimney sweep to get rid of any blockages, replace any loose tiles or slates to stop them crashing off and causing damage and cleaning gutters to make sure they’re able to drain excess water properly.
Concept Building Solutions also advised homeowners to check:
- External pipes (if not insulated they can burst in freezing conditions)
- External furniture (to secure it down)
- Fence panels
- Window frames
Finally, the franchise shared how to make sure everything is ready for winter inside. A boiler service should be top of the list, as being stuck without heating in freezing conditions is most people’s idea of a nightmare. It also advised people to make sure their homes are well-insulated and to make sure that their stopcock is working.
