Cash Generator gives a young championship-winning skater a new bike after his is vandalised.
Alfie Mills isn’t your usual teen. He is exceptionally busy juggling school and skateboarding competitions where he is often crowned the winner. His bike is also incredibly important to him. It gets him to the railway station so he can catch the bus to school at Leaf Academy in Bournemouth, not to mention getting around to see his friends. So when his bike was vandalised, he was worried about how he would manage to get to where he needs to be.
In fact, the vandalism came as an extra big knock because just six months ago, his previous bike was stolen. Having just paid for a new one, his family couldn’t afford to replace his second bike too.

In desperation, Alfie’s dad took to social media to find a solution. He told Alfie’s story and asked if anyone had a cheap bike for sale, hoping to find something he could afford that would do the job for a while. Luckily, staff at the Cash Generator store in Boscombe saw the post. They had an even better offer – one for free and a lock to go with it.
Unsurprisingly, Alfie is over the moon. He said, “seeing the new bike has taken my breath away – it is amazing. I have no words to explain it. How somebody would actually take their time out and give me a bike when they could get some money for it themselves is incredible”.
The team at Cash Generator in Boscombe was simply happy to help. Head of Pedal Sales, Ryan Thorne, explains why, “we think that Alfie deserves a new bike. Through no fault of his own, locking his bike up every day, he has fallen to two crime in six months. So we are going to give Alfie a new bike”.
The store in Boscome is set up for bike sales with a full bike superstore outside.
Cash Generator is a buy and sell retail store that helps people to make money from their unwanted items. It also offers financial services. First set up in Bolton in 1994, it has since grown to a nationwide franchise of independently owned stores.
