The cleaning franchise is all about making the home sparkle and shine, and in the Christmas season, that includes the provision of helpful festive tips like these.

Fantastic Services knows that many dream of waking up on Christmas morning to soft, white snow. But sadly, the cleaning franchise also knows that’s unlikely to be a reality for its customers without the help of flocking. Flocking refers to the practice of covering a tree (either real or fake) in synthetic white powder designed to imitate freshly fallen snow.

As Fantastic Services put it in a recent blog post, “You’ve probably seen thousands of beautiful snow-covered Christmas trees while passing by stores or on TV, but if you have never come across the term ‘flocked tree’, it refers to the process where evergreen plants are dusted with artificial snow. Not to be confused with fake Christmas trees designed with white plastic needles; here a white powder is used for a more customised effect.”

The franchise continued, “Flocking can be implemented on both artificial and real Christmas trees. While there are plenty of pre-flocked evergreen trees available on the market, the benefit of flocking your tree on your own is that you can not only save money, but that it also allows you to get creative.”

In the past, people would make flocking out of materials like cotton, flour and cornstarch. Nowadays, flocking is mostly composed of tiny cellulose or cotton fibres, and Fantastic Services advised that readers would need the following items to get flocking: A drop cloth, a plastic bag, flocking powder, water, a spray bottle and a fine mesh strainer. With these items, they should prepare the area, mix the ingredients into a spray and apply the flocking. They might need to do multiple layers, letting the flocking dry between each one.

It’s worth noting, as the franchise expressed in the blog post, that pre-mixed flocking spray can also be purchased, removing a few of those steps/required items from the process and making it even simpler to sort at home.
