TaxAssist Accountants took home the prize for Business of the Year at the Norfolk Business Awards 2020.

The bookkeeping and accounting franchise beat the competition to win the award after the judging panel selected just four finalists from the group of nominees. The franchise has a business network of 300 branches stretching across the globe, into countries including the US, Canada and Australia, but its support centre is based in Norwich.

Karl Sandall, the Group Chief Executive Director, described his excitement at the franchise’s triumph:

“We are absolutely thrilled to have won this award against some very successful and well-known businesses in Norfolk. In what has been a very turbulent and challenging year, it is highly rewarding for our 60-strong Support Centre team to have their hard work and achievements recognised in this way.

“To have our business recognised in this way is truly heartening and bodes well for our future UK and International expansion plans.”

The reaction in the media has been positive. Sophie Stainthorpe, who writes for the Eastern Daily Press (EDP), said:

“With the onset of Covid-19 and the support requirements from its client base, it would have been easy for the network to have been overcome by the deluge of enquiries surrounding the many government support schemes.

“The Support Centre team rose to the challenge and with daily updates, webinars and blogs, provided practical interpretations and advice on the evolving government support mechanisms, sharing over one million emails to their clients during the initial lockdown period.”

According to the EDP, 96 percent of clients who provided feedback on TaxAssist Accountants would recommend the business to friends and family. And although the franchise has been flexible with its investment fees during the first lockdown, it has been able to maintain a strong performance.
