Heritage Healthcare has almost reached its target to round off more than 18 years of a fundraising partnership with a local hospice.
Heritage Healthcare has been looking back on its incredible charity golf days, which have run annually for the last 18 years to raise money for a local hospice.
The event, first organised by the home care franchise’s founders, has raised nearly £250,000 for St Teresa’s Hospice in Darlington, which aims to make end-of-life and terminally ill patients more comfortable in their final months and weeks. This year, 18 teams took to the greens and fairways of Blackwell Golf Club to battle it out for the coveted title. The winners, MAC International, took home an engraved winner’s trophy, individual glass trophies and bottles of red wine to celebrate their collective low score.
Reflecting back on the event, director and franchisor Sally Pickersgill expressed how thrilled she was with the last 18 years and explained why both herself and husband Glen are taking a step back.
“This is our last Heritage Healthcare sponsored golf day and it is quite fitting that we should sponsor our final 18th hole in the competition’s 18th year and finish with 18 teams. The past 18 years have gone by really quickly and they have all been great days, but work commitments now mean that we are taking a step back and the hospice will take over the running of the event in the years to come."
