Not long after opening a new store in Carlisle, TaxAssist Accountants announced a new owner for the bookkeeping and accounting business in Stourbridge. It’s been 14 years that Melvyn Shephard has been at the helm of the branch. However, he’s decided it’s time to move on, selling to fellow franchisee Kully Sahota.

Fortunately, the Stourbridge community can look forward to a smooth handover of the Taxassist business. Operations will continue as always as Kully spends time with Melvyn learning the ins and outs of the area.

Melvyn had a few words to share about selling the TaxAssist Stourbridge company:

“I’ve hugely enjoyed running my own practice, but the time has come to pass on the reins and retire. I’m going to continue working in the practice for a short time during a handover period, but Kully is a very experienced accountant, and my clients will be in excellent hands going forward. My thanks go to the TaxAssist Support Centre team for their help and guidance over the years, without whom I doubt I would have built such a successful practice.”

Kully also shared a sentiment about the handover:

“I currently operate from five locations in and around Birmingham, and when I learnt that Melvyn’s practice was for sale, I decided it was a great opportunity to expand and take my business to the next level. I am looking forward to working with existing staff to grow the practice further, which includes plans to open a new shop in Hagle.”

With trends for franchising increasing and TaxAssist opening new branches in Dartford and Streatham, it’s clear that there are many exciting opportunities for starting a new business in 2023. Perhaps it’s time for you to see what’s required to invest in and run your own TaxAssist Accountants branch.
