Do I need experience?

Don't have experience with teaching yoga? No problem, Full Yoga Teacher Training accredited Yoga Alliance Professionals is included.

From the attic to award winning studios:

Sandstone Yoga & Pilates began when Michelle Nicklin trained to teach yoga after a lengthy career teaching economics in Secondary School. Practicing from her loft at home, Michelle started to gain interest from friends that also wanted to start yoga. This is where she began to teach and soon had a keen following. This brought her to hiring a local space to accommodate her clients where her classic Hatha style with Yoga Nidra could become accessible to even more people interested in the benefits of yoga.

5 years in the making, the Sandstone Yoga & Pilates brand then became a reality. After an inspirational trip to Petra, Jordan, Michelle decided that her yoga studio - Bliss Yoga - would transform into what is known today as Sandstone Yoga & Pilates.

Sandstone has a very powerful spiritual meaning. It is called the stone of creativity; it is a stone of strength within relationships both at home and in the workplace; it helps you to stay focused, happy and discern the truth. Sandstone is the very essence of our Yoga brand.

Continuous growth

With 4 studios operating in Aldridge, Bearwood, Broadway (Cotswolds) and Sutton Coldfield, the Sandstone brand is growing in the short time since 2017 when the first franchisee came on board. Each studio goes from strength to strength, offering varied and interesting timetables, training, workshops, UK and international retreats and more. The wellness and fitness industry has never been so exciting with more of us searching for an outlet to relieve stress and balance our busy lifestyles.

With the pandemic situation, the Petra package was launched as more people respond to online classes.

OUR FOUNDER: MICHELLE NICKLIN, SYT

Michelle Nicklin is a visionary leader within the yoga world. She has practised yoga since 1990 and is the Founder of Sandstone Yoga & Pilates,
which started humbly in her attic. She is a Senior Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance Professionals and is the Director of the Sandstone Teacher Training Academy. Michelle loves working authentically within the yoga business world. Her passion is to develop and mentor those who own yoga businesses.

“I love working with others to create supportive yoga communities. That’s my calling and I feel so privileged that I had the courage to follow my own path.”

Michelle writes a monthly column for OM Yoga Magazine and has had over 2000 babies born from her pregnancy yoga classes. As well as personally mentoring franchisees, she mentors for the Prince’s Trust and is a member of Encouraging Women into Franchising. She continues to personally mentor all franchisees.

MEET KATIE.

A graduate from our Sandstone Teaching Academy Katie has been practising yoga for over 15 years and it has been with her through many important stages of her life, including the birth of her son in 2015. She graduated from the very first Sandstone Teacher Training Course in 2017 and has been teaching children and adults out in the community.

She loves to welcome people of all ages and abilities to her classes and encourages a non-competitive environment.

Having worked in the corporate world, with a demanding role in marketing for large retail companies, Katie opted for a change of pace in her career after the birth of her son. Having taught yoga out in the community after graduating and making a success of that, she decided that being part of the Sandstone Yoga brand would be the natural next step in forwarding her yoga career.

Owning the Aldridge studio gave her the lifestyle she yearned for. A business owner with the flexibility of looking after her son and balancing her family life with her husband whilst earning a great income.

The support of the Sandstone Yoga & Pilates team also offered her the chance to learn about the business and gain crucial advice all under one roof.
