TaxAssist Accoutants franchisee Roger Bowen took to his bike to raise money for a fantastic cause.

A generous TaxAssist Accountants franchisee undertook an incredible challenge for charity that saw himself and two friends cycle more than 1,100 miles.

Along with friends Craig Colborne and Hefin Williams, Roger Bowen embarked on the cycling challenge to raise money for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity and LATCH Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity.

Bowen explained why he chose to help the incredible charity.

“The reason we chose Noah’s Ark and LATCH was they helped in the treatment and support of a friend’s son, Ben Cooper, who at age 11, was diagnosed with cancer and spent over six months in hospital undergoing operations and chemotherapy. We decided to cycle from the Nou Camp in Barcelona, one of Ben’s favourite football teams, and finish at Scarlets rugby ground, who are Ben’s favourite rugby team.”

Despite falling off his bike in front of 1,000 competitors at the Barcelona Ironman, he said that the ride went really well and was an incredibly enjoyable experience. Knowing that he was raising money for a fantastic cause made it even better, says Roger.

The trio raised an incredible £11,000 during the trip that took them from Barcelona to Llanelli. During the last five years the friends have raised an astonishing £90,000 for a range of fantastic causes by undertaking cycling challenges, showing that their passion for the community is almost as strong as their legs!
