Subway is looking to appoint a new CMO after Joseph Tripodi announces plans to retire.

After three years with the sandwich franchise Subway, during which he has made a substantial impact on the company, Subways CMO, Joseph Tripodi, has decided to retire, leaving behind an impressive legacy.

On his appointment as CMO in 2015, Tripodi detailed his ambitions for his tenure: I want to build on Subways legacy of innovation to ensure we are always leading in our marketing, product offerings, and consumer engagement strategies.

In 2015, Suzanne Greco, president and CEO of Subway noted Tripodis previous experience: Joe brings a wealth of experience leading global marketing organizations and initiatives for blue chip companies such as Coca-Cola, Seagrams, MasterCard, and Allstate where he drove significant growth and brand value.

Joining the franchise shortly after Subway spokesperson Jared Fogles imprisonment, Tripodi was tasked with the responsibility of rebuilding the companys public image. As a result, Subway underwent a rebrand in 2016, including the redesign of the logo into a cleaner, curved font, with brighter yellow and green colours.

Serving as Subways CMO is just the last in a series of impressive job titles held by Tripodi during his 40 year career. Prior to joining Subway, Tripodi was Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer for Coca-Cola for over seven years, during which time the company was named Cannes Creative Marketer of the Year (2013) and Advertising Age Marketer of the Year (2011). Before that, Tripodi served as CMO at Allstate Insurance Company, The Bank of New York, Seagram Spirits & Wine, and MasterCard International, and was inducted into the American Marketing Hall of Fame in 2014.

Having flourished under Tripodis influence over the past three years, Subway has appointed the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of marketing company Ampersand, Roger Mader, as acting CMO, but will continue to seek a permanent replacement to fill Tripodis shoes.
