Recognition Express South East Scotland has seen an average growth rate above 10% per year since 2014.

High standards of customer service have boosted the success of one of Recognition Express’ franchises in SE Scotland. David Mitchell, son of former owner Graham Mitchell, bought the franchise with fellow employees Moira Ashby and Mark Everingham five years ago when his father reached retirement age. With the combined skills of him and his colleagues and ongoing franchisor support, the business has reached new heights.

According to David, outstanding customer service is the key to their success. The value, which is emphasised to all franchisees in the network, has paid dividends for Recognition Express South East Scotland. In a digital age, David ensures that client relationships are still maintained in person as much as possible. He said “It really makes a difference. Customers know we offer good value, and they trust us to meet their expectations.”

The business, which operates from Grangemouth, fosters a strong team ethic and a belief that attention to detail helps the business stand out against competitors and earn repeat custom. Everyone has a specific role to play in ensuring that customers have a good experience every time they use Recognition Express.

Five years after acquiring the business, the leadership team still values the franchisor’s support and guidance. David’s joint business partner Moira says this extended support network has been invaluable in keeping the team focused.

“In the early days, it was great to know we could call on head office with any queries,” she explains. “Being in touch with the franchisor and other franchisees really motivates us and keeps us at the head of our game.”

Recognition Express has been in the Mitchell family for two decades. David was initially attracted to the business as it was a reliable and low-risk route to becoming his own boss.

He says that “Taking care of customers and ensuring they have the best possible experience has helped us grow and develop the business.”
