David Barnes used to run a successful dog grooming business with his wife until he decided it was time for a change and launched a franchise with Really Awesome Coffee.
David recently sat down with the coffee van franchise to chat about how he’s been finding franchisee life since launching his Nottingham-based branch of Really Awesome Coffee. He spoke about how he discovered the coffee business, why he chose to invest, and how he’d rate the franchise’s provision of support and training.
As mentioned above, David used to own a dog grooming salon. When asked why he ditched dogs for coffee, he said, “During the first COVID lockdown, I was looking through bank statements and realised I spent more on coffee treats than the weekly shop. And I thought to myself, ‘There has to be a business for this?’ [Following lots of] research, I found Really Awesome Coffee. Once I had everything, I compared them with two other similar coffee vans.. Nothing compared, nothing seemed to be as complete.”
David then spoke on his Head Office training and the franchising journey he’s been on since launch, saying, “The training and launch were good, the van is a few months old now and I still get the wow factor whenever anyone new comes to the van.” Plus, David added, “Contact with my Franchise Development Manager (FDM) and Head Office is really good.”
To conclude the interview, David was asked: What is the most invaluable piece of advice you could give someone looking to invest in their first franchise? He said, “If you don’t do it, someone else will.
