Punch Pubs & Co’s franchisees have refreshed their outdoor spaces with the Inside|Outside investment scheme.

Since pubs reopened on April 12th, Punch Pubs & Co have been working to support their franchisees, or “Punch Publicans”. The Inside|Outside scheme has invested over a million pounds into creating functional, attractive outdoor spaces in which conversation can flow while safety is preserved.

These spaces are also built to last well past the point at which customers can safely gather indoors - they’re to be used and enjoyed for years and years to come. All kinds of solutions and improvements have been implemented, including:

  • Festoon lighting
  • New furniture
  • Tented areas and cosy huts, providing rain cover and additional warmth
  • Outdoor heating elements

Though the prospect of opening back up is exciting for restaurant, coffee shop and pub franchises, and potentially even more exciting for members of the public, preparation for all-weather scenarios is an important factor. Especially in the United Kingdom, where rain, even in the spring and summer months, is a certainty.

After an undeniably challenging year for the hospitality industry, many pubs would struggle to afford the outside rejuvenation required to draw customers in. The Inside|Outside investment scheme has been invaluable when it comes to helping these businesses out.

In Nantwich, for example, Bench Bistro has massively revamped and redecorated its outdoor space with the help of Punch Pubs & Co [The Nantwich News]. Andy Spencer, Managing Director of Punch Pubs & Co, said,

“Working together with hundreds of our Publicans, we have breathed new life into many of our pub gardens and outdoor spaces. [...] Like all of our Publicans able to reopen, we are excited to welcome our customers back in April. However, it remains vitally important to remember that pubs will be operating at a significantly reduced capacity. We need restrictions to continue to be relaxed during the reopening period to ensure the long-term survival of the Great British Pub.”
