Brad Sugars recently sat down with Kevin Weir, a franchisee with ActionCOACH, to chat about his journey with the network so far.

ActionCOACH is the world’s number one business coaching franchise, and for a very good reason. Not only does it offer exemplary services, but excellent support to its franchisees, too. Brad and Kevin spoke recently about Kevin’s franchising experiences, and this is the first of two articles recounting this insight-filled conversation. In this article, you’ll learn how Kevin got into coaching, and what keeps him coaching.

When Brad asked Kevin how he entered the world of coaching, and what he loves about it, Kevin said, “I went through a lot of career changes in my life. In 1997, I actually got coached by a company called Bernard Haldane & Associates for a career change. And my advisor basically said, ‘you could do this job!’ Well surprise: One day, he left, and I interviewed for [his] job, and I got it.”

In his first five years on the coaching scene, Kevin went on to explain, he noticed that many of the clients he had the most success with were those who didn’t want to change careers, but instead wanted to buy or start a business. In his words, “I had so much more success with those clients. [And] several of them said, you know, you really should do this whole business coaching thing full time.” So, after five years, that’s exactly what Kevin did. He found ActionCOACH, and he made his investment.

When Brad then asked what keeps Kevin coaching, he responded by saying that it's the impact he has on people’s lives, and the gratitude they share with him. He has many excellent stories under his belt, including the following: “I worked with a roofer and he was a referral for my CPA alliance. At the time when he started with me [he was] doing 300,000 in revenue, no profits and 50,000 in debt to the IRS. Two and a half years later, he is doing 3.5 million revenue, 700,000 net profit on an annual basis, and no debt. And he got the business to run without him.”
