Merry Maids busts cleaning myths
Merry Maids’ home cleaning expert has been debunking common cleaning myths that stop homes looking squeaky clean.
We all know a few traditional cleaning ‘hacks’ that have been passed down as the best way to get your home looking like new. However, in an article for The AJC, cleaning experts including Merry Maids’ resident aficionado Debra Johnson revealed which of these traditional methods need to be binned and how you can make your home sparkle from top to bottom the right way.
Have you heard that newspaper is the best thing to clean glass with? Well, this isn’t the way things are done at cleaning franchise Merry Maids, as newspapers may get wet and transfer print to the glass.
“We use microfiber cloths to clean glass. They’re the best at cleaning without streaking.”
Other debunked theories included putting used coffee grounds into a garbage disposal to keep it fresh, with baking soda being a more effective alternative, treating the front of fabric to remove a stain, which should actually be tackled from the back to push it away from the fabric and using microfibre mops rather than traditional string mops to keep your floors free of bacteria.
However, if cleaning really isn’t your thing, Merry Maids has more than 100 locations in the UK alone with cleaners that can visit as often as you like, or just offer their services for extra special deep cleans.
