Meet two successful Christmas Decorators franchisees

Berkshire-based Christmas Decorators franchisees Dave and Dawn have shared their franchising experiences.

Dave and Dawn, the proud owners of Christmas Decorators in Berkshire, have given us an insight into their journey and experiences as franchisees.

Dave’s career history is largely in the IT industry and Dawn has always been office based. So, when the opportunity arose to have more freedom and flexibility visiting different clients, they jumped at the chance to get involved.

When asked why they chose this interior decorating franchise, the pair provided four key reasons.

1. The Christmas Decorators franchise opportunity meant that they could run a business jointly.
2. The business model also allowed them to start work without quitting their regular day jobs so there was less financial risk.
3. It also meant they could fulfil a long-term plan to create a lifestyle business where they could enjoy spending more time together and travel more.
4. And finally, they could reach a more secure future financial position for their retirement and children.

Dave shared his thoughts on the initial training programme:

“One of the initial concerns was our lack of experience in creating anything of this nature. The initial training allowed us to realise that this was not a barrier to success. It provided confidence and the basic tools to create luxury installations for our clients.”

And as for the support they received from the head office team…

“Support has been varied and of course depends on the individual and their own strengths. We have been supported with several large installations and national accounts that helped launch and grow our business, but also the technical advice has been invaluable in helping us find solutions to challenges.”

Being able to operate in a ‘feel good’ industry and add some sparkle to people’s lives during the most wonderful time of the year is one of the aspects they enjoy most about the business. They also attribute having a great relationship with the network of franchisees and attending fun social gatherings to their love of the role.
