Marla Custom Blinds franchisee Andrew Benson has shared how he fitted out one farmhouse’s sunroom to customised perfection.

The owners of Manor Farm in Totnes, Devon, tasked Andrew with finding the ideal blinds for the building’s unique sunroom/conservatory. However, the room had different sized roof beams, a pointed roof and very long central panels that wouldn’t be covered by traditional blinds. Not only was the structure’s unusual shape going to be a challenge, but the clients had a specific list of requirements to make sure their new blinds truly complemented their traditional home. Andrew had to make sure that:

  • the blinds’ material reduced heat and glare without blocking out all light
  • the colour and texture (as well as all fixings and detailing) fit with the farmhouse’s traditional look
  • the blinds could cope with a maximum drop of four metres over the two roof panels.

None of that was a problem for Andrew. Thanks to the extensive training he had received when joining the interior decorating franchise, he was able to guide his clients to the perfect solution. In this case, it was a classic Wood Weave roof blind in antique white, with a contrasting stone-coloured tape and brass eyelets.

After carefully photographing and measuring the roof’s unusual shape, he chatted through the project with managing director, Martin Froud, to shape his design ideas and settle on a quote for the special project. The clients quickly accepted and, after another visit with Martin in tow for final measurements and to settle all the finer details, the project kicked off just a few weeks later.

Andrew’s excellent service and the final product met the clients’ high expectations. They commented:

“Andrew’s work for Marla Custom Blinds was outstanding. We had Wood Weave blinds fitted in a very demanding sunroom, and his attention to detail and reliability was fantastic. We have no hesitation in recommending him.”

Martin Froud congratulated Andrew on a job well done.

“I‘d like to congratulate Andrew on another excellent installation. I am proud to say that all our Marla Custom Blind franchisees have the same “can do” attitude. They also have access to all the franchisee support they need from our head office team, allowing them to tackle even the most challenging projects successfully.”
