Leightons is set to team up with other optical providers to offer DVLA-approved eye tests
Optician franchise Leightons has announced that its teaming up with other optical providers in order to bid for a tender to carry out DVLA-approved eye tests for professional drivers.
As part of the Association for Independent Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians (AIO) , Leightons has teamed up with its competitors to launch a bit to provide more convenient DVLA-approved tests. People who work in the haulage, public transport and other industries require regular eye testing to ensure they’re fit to be on the road, but currently many have to travel huge distances just to find a place that is DVLA-approved.
By offering an easier way to access approved eye tests, the AIO and opticians franchise Leightons hopes that it will reduce almost 3000 annual road deaths and injuries caused by poor vision. Although it may seem odd that Leightons is supporting its competitors in this bid, its passion for increasing road safety and ensuring everyone’s eye care needs are met is of greater importance than professional competition.
Offering in-depth eye examinations that can detect some of the leading causes of preventable blindness much earlier than others, Leightons is an optician with a difference. As well as offering specialist eye care, it also provides an expert audiology service that can help customer who are experience hearing troubles to find the right hearing aids for them.
