Home Instead has been sharing the story of one of its truly caring franchisees.
A Home Instead franchisee has been showing how treating employees with the care they deserve leads to a better, more caring service being provided. Bert Copple, who co-owns the Birmingham, Michigan branch of the home care franchise, has been sharing what has led to his success in the Detroit Free Press.
“Our caregivers are the face of our company and happy caregivers equal happy customers. Many companies in our business just want to give care, but it takes a true professional to build trust and take the lead to provide the best care possible, and this is done by our caregivers and entire staff.”
Copple, who co-owns the franchise with wife Stephanie, has stayed true to his word by rewarding his staff for their dedication, most recently gifting a caregiver who clocked up 30,000 hours of care and an office staff manager who has been with Home Instead for 15 years a Caribbean cruise each. After spending years in the U.S. Army, Copple honed his leadership and teamwork skills as a chaplain’s assistant in South Korea and on a combat tour in Iraq. He credits the experience as the driving factor behind his hands-off approach with general manager Anne Monaghan, saying that empowering and trusting her to make the right decisions was “the best decision” he ever made for his business.
Equally dedicated to her work as Mr and Mrs Copple are, Monaghan explained the franchise’s ‘ambassador programme’ that pairs all new caregivers with experienced colleagues to help them learn the skills they need.
“Caregiving can be tough and we want professional caregivers, so we treat them like professionals.”
Copple concluded by saying that new clients won’t be disappointed if they choose Home Instead for their home assistance needs.
“I promise you that if you give us a chance our caregivers will be like family to you.”
