FiltaFry has made the final three of a German sustainability award that receives hundreds of entries every single year.

Van based franchise FiltaFry has been chosen out of more than 800 companies as one of the finalists at the German Sustainability Awards 2020. The announcement comes off the back of its achievement at the Green Franchise Awards 2019, which saw it named as one of the three greenest franchises in Germany.

FiltaFry has been nominated in the SME category for outstanding achievements in the area of sustainability and will find out if it’s done enough to claim the crown on 22nd of November 2019, which is German Sustainability Day.

Commenting on the fantastic achievement, managing director Jos Van Aalst said:

“To be among the companies nominated out of a total of 800 candidates reaffirms the success and significance of our work as well as our franchise partners’ daily dedication in saving frying oil. The challenges for restaurant and catering services in terms of saving resources, protecting the environment and reducing employee workload are significant. At FiltaFry we can make our contribution to tackling them through our service.”

According to the awards board, FiltaFry’s innovative services have saved around 240,000 litres of fryer oil across its portfolio of German businesses, reducing CO2 emissions by up to 403,000kg. The franchise was also praised for its unique method of processing used fryer oil into biodiesel, which saves countless more kilograms of CO2 emissions.

Van Aalst explained how FiltaFry plans to expand its network across the country to increase the positive impact it’s having on the environment.

“In numerous cities and regions our franchisees are already operational, in some however we are looking for growth-oriented partners. With every new franchisee, with every new customer, the amount of saved oil increases and the environment is less impacted.”
