Esquires Coffee brings boost to Limerick

Esquires Coffee set to open in Limerick following £220,000 site refit.

Limerick’s Catherine Street will soon be home to a brand-new coffee shop thanks to the upcoming opening of international chain Esquires Coffee. Taking the place of popular Sage café, it will open its doors by the middle of June following an extensive refurbishment of the old site.

The opening of Esquires Coffee is set to create around 15 roles, which will provide a welcome boost to the area. Tony McVerry, MD of the firm’s Irish franchises, said that all of the opportunities will be full-time positions.

“We feel people are looking for full time positions, and we would like to give them these roles and look after them well in terms of pay and conditions,” he said.

He also explained how Esquires Coffee had been looking to open a branch in Limerick for some time but wanted to make sure everything was exactly right to make the franchise a success.

“Limerick has always been on the cards for us. From our point of view, we only wanted to go ahead once we had the right operator, as we’re a franchise. When they came in, the thing was to try and get the right location.”

Of the old café site, he also said “Sage had done so well over the years in that location, so we’d like to be able to continue on the tradition of good food and good beverages that Sage has been doing all along.”

With more than 130 branches worldwide, Esquires Coffee has ambitious plans for growth and is set to open more stores in its established territories and branch out to new areas such as Pakistan in 2018.
