Energie Fitness has submitted a plan to take over a unit left deserted by a bust budget retailer.
Energie Fitness is hoping to give a retail park in North Wales a boost by opening a brand-new location in one of its empty sites.
The unit in Deeside Retail Park was home to a Poundworld store, but it’s been left empty since the discount chain went into administration over the summer and shut the store down. Enter gym franchise Energie Fitness, which has submitted a plan to the owners to transform the vacant site into a branch of the popular budget gym.
With an impressive £500,000 planned for the site’s renovation and repurposing, the fitness franchise is hopeful that it can turn it into a popular branch used by locals and visitors alike. It could also create up to ten jobs for fitness professionals in the area, as Energie will be on the lookout for personal trainers to help bring the site to life.
Lewis Cooke, national property acquisitions manager at Energie Fitness, outlined the huge potential the gym franchise has.
"Energie Fitness is the market leading franchise gym operator within the UK, with huge growth forecasted for the next five to 10 years. Energie saw a great opportunity to invest in this empty unit and provide a place for the local community and visitors with a place to work out and keep fit. Introducing its branded fitness concepts such as ‘The Yard’ will help those in the Deeside area to get and stay in shape, in a welcoming and fun environment.”
He added that the franchise is hopeful that its plans will be approved by February 2019 and that it looks forward to bringing its concept to the people of Deeside.
Since it was founded in 2003, Energie Fitness has expanded to have more than 100 franchised clubs across the UK and Europe.
