A local Ableworld franchise is giving back to those who will be in hospital this Christmas.

An Ableworld franchise is trying to make Christmas special even for those who are stuck in hospital over the festive period.

For many of us, the best part of Christmas is spending time relaxing in our homes surrounded by family and friends. But for those who aren’t able to spend Christmas at home, it can be a sad time as they miss out on lots of the festive fun.

So, Northwich’s branch of Ableworld has launched its third annual appeal to try and make Christmas a cheerier time for those suffering with ill health. Its festive shoebox campaign, which was launched in 2016, makes up gift boxes for patients of local hospitals and delivers them in time for Christmas day, so that each patient has a few special treats to brighten up their day.

The Shrewsbury based disability and mobility aids franchise has appealed to the local community for donations and suggests that puzzle books, hot chocolate or other special drinks, biscuits, socks, gloves, slippers and toiletries are all fantastic gifts. It added that anything else people feel would put a smile on patients’ faces is welcome and thanked the local community for their support over the last two years, which has seen Ableworld collect enough donations to fill more than 100 shoe boxes each time.

The shoeboxes will be donated to two local hospitals, the Royal Hospital Shrewsbury and the Princess Hospital Telford and donations are being collected until the 17th of December, to make sure there’s plenty of time to deliver the gifts before the big day.

Founded in 2001 after Managing Director Mike Williams recognised the need for a reliable and honest place where the elderly and vulnerable could purchase mobility aids, Ableworld now has more than 30 stores across the UK.
