A 9Round location has shared how it’s keeping its local community moving with unique workouts hosted virtually
If you’re used to exercising with state-of-the-art equipment at your local gym, you might be finding it hard to stay fit right now. But for members of gym franchise 9Round, it’s been easy to stay mentally and physically well with its programme of online workouts.
The workout spaces, of which there are more than 750 scattered across the globe, usually operate intense circuits-style workouts for members. 9Round’s skilled coaches will take its fitness fanatics through 30 minutes of moves using its high-tech equipment. However, as gyms across the world close their doors for the time being, the franchise has had to adapt its routines so that everyone can enjoy them from home. Members can log on to an online portal, where they can follow along with the ‘workout of the day’ specially designed by its trainers.
CEO Shannon Hudson, who founded the franchise in 2007, explained how 9Round has adapted it member policies in light of the current pandemic.
“We’ve dropped membership to $30 in many locations. Now, if the customer reaches out and says ‘just freeze [my membership]’, then we’re happy to do that. But we’ve had about 90% of our customers stay on board.”
Many of its gyms have started selling equipment online, so that members can use its signature boxing gloves for their workouts. Hudson stressed, though, that it’s still possible to stay fit and active even if you don’t have any equipment at home.
“What we’re saying is, ‘Hey, you don’t need any gear.’ During this crazy time, it’s more important than ever to take 30 minutes for yourself and to move. It’s so easy, especially now because everyone’s working from home, to sit and be stagnant and get depressed. I mean, even kids.”
