Franchise
Kumon Educational Japan Co., Ltd., is a multinational educational institution renowned for using the Kumon Method in their practice. We have over 50 years of experience in leading the world in after-school math and reading academic enrichment programs. Our famous Kumon Method, which is a personalized unconventional approach where children are taught based on their ability and not on age, proved to be more than successful as we've reached international recognition and present in over 49 countries.
Having a your own Kumon Centre franchise is more than just having a trend-setter and well-trusted business, it's about making a great contribution to the community. Once a franchisee, you can have the assurance of a safe and growing enterprise while rewarding yourself the pride of helping the local children reach their fullest potential. Our work in reshaping the educational industry has been recognised and we’ve won numerous industry awards. Once again, we were named the “No. 1 Franchise” in the tutoring industry by the Entrepreneur Magazine for eleven consecutive years. In addition, Kumon bagged the “No. 3 Franchise for Money” given by the Forbes Magazine as well as “All Star Franchise” award from the AllBusiness.com. All these accomplishments we owe not only to our Kumon Method of teaching but to our beloved and respected franchisees as well.
Training and support provided
Kumon does not only help children but reach out to our franchisees as well. You as a franchisee will get all the help you need to start your own education centre. Aside from benefitting from the extent of our experience and expertise you will also have branch adverts, material production as well as promotional campaigns. Before starting to run your own Kumon Centre, a training consisting of six lessons which are focused in building skills as well as reading ability in accordance with the Kumon Method will be given to each franchisee. Ongoing training will also be provided after the opening of the centre to help maintain the standards of the company.
The ideal Kumon franchisee
As a proven educational institution with a stable business model, we are still looking for people who are willing to reach out to children using the Kumon Method. Interested franchisees must be passionate in the development and education of children. Owning a Kumon franchise is easy, you just need a minimum investment of £3,000 which covers your initial license fee as well as the marketing fee for the first twelve months. You also need to prepare yourself for rent fees as well as other running costs. For the location, we stress that the centre should be suitable for children, with sufficient area and condition, and compliant of all health and safety laws.
Kumon's history
Kumon originated in 1954 when a high school teacher, Toru Kumon started to provide a new concept of self-learning to his son. A year later, his first Math Centre opened in Moriguchi City, Osaka. Kumon first opened overseas in 1974 when a Kumon Math Centre was built in New York.
