About Iceland
franchise

Iceland is currently not recruiting franchisees.

Iceland is one of the leading and fastest growing food retailers in the UK. Recognised as a responsible retailer, they are devoted in offering healthy and ethically sourced foods. We have led the food revolution in the 1980s and 1990s successfully terminating artificial colours and flavours in our products. Moreover, we are committed in giving back to the community and the environment by creating jobs, regenerating high street and giving exceptional customer service with special support to those who are ill and physically disadvantaged.

At Iceland, we value quality as much as the costs. Its plain simple, what others have in their supermarkets, we have it at a higher quality with a significantly lower prices. In addition, our suppliers are compliant of the British Retail Consortium Food Standard. Aside from our products, we are also proud of our business model, which in the administration of Malcolm Walker, never fell short as evidenced by the accolades that keep on coming. For eleven consecutive years, Iceland was named one of the Best Big Companies To Work For in the UK given by The Industry. We also bagged four bronze awards in the BFFF 2016 Awards as well as winner in the Christmas SuperMeat & Fish Awards and the Olive Magazine Supermarket Awards among others. These awards that we have been receiving for over the years are testament to the effectiveness of our work and efforts. It only means what we have been doing is correct and are still on the right path.

Training and support provided

Iceland is committed in offering the best not only in certain local markets but in the world market. We recognise different cultures with specific wants and needs. That is why we offer franchise opportunities dedicated to specific market in specific countries. However, as we originated in the UK, we make it sure that all Iceland franchises, outlets and supermarkets share our values and faithfully adhere to our set of standards. In addition, we provide proper extensive training to help our franchisees in setting up their branch. An ongoing support is also provided ensuring maximum sales potential are reached and the quality of the products and services are maintained.

Iceland's history

Malcolm Walker established Iceland in 1970 in Oswestry, Shropshire, UK. Iceland is one of the first stores specialising in frozen food as freezers and fridges are not yet common. Over the years, inventory rose from frozen foods to selling branded food products. Company growth was unprecedented and by 1995, Iceland has increased to more than 750 outlets. After a few bumps and losses, Iceland regained its business stability and become more successful than ever. Today, Iceland's sales rose to £2 billion with over 22,000 employees and 700 outlets in the markets of UK, Portugal, Spain, Libya, Isle of Man and Channel Island.
