About Gymboree
Franchise

Gymboree Play and Music Centres is one of the leading children learning and development institutions in the UK. We specialise in non-therapeutic sensory-motor kid programmes, early childhood music and art programmes, exercise activites, birthday and theme parties as well as story line parties. Moreover, we also offer materials for parent and soon-to-be parents as well as activity participation in our kid's programmes. Our offerings are also available in mobile phones which makes our system easier to access by schools, day care centres as well as other child-oriented institutions. This makes for a loyal and growing customer base which helps us continue our national growth.

Gymboree boasts a successful track record of proven business model. For over 40 years, we have been developing children's creativity, confidence and talent while providing franchise owners good business stability. Our business model as well as our course offering are designed by experts in the field which makes our process easy to learn while our courses simple yet effective. In addition, we are a member of the Encouraging Women Into Franchising or EWIF which supports women who want to take part in the industry of franchising. This means, Gymboree encourages women to franchise and help other women become attracted to their networks.

Training and support provided

We are devoted in keeping our standards among all franchises on par and in keeping abreast with the technological advances in the education sector. That is why much investment is made on the improvement of the brand. This is made and supported by franchisees who return 6% of their gross receipts as Royalty Fees. We also provide initial and mandatory training as well as the optional bi-annual regional training aside from the Business Meeting and the Annual Meeting which all helps in educating the franchisee in running their own branch. To help franchisees in advertising their new location, an average of £200 will be collected and spent on marketing and promotional materials.

The ideal Gymboree franchisee

Gymboree is currently expanding and is looking for people who want to take part in our success. Interested applicants should be passionate in the education of children and be willing to brave the rigours of the industry. There are two franchise options, the Play & Music Centre and the Metro Play Centre. As a new franchisee, you need to prepare a minimum initial investment ranging from £93,000 up to £214,000 depending on the franchise option and the location. The initial costs include the franchise fee, equipment, professional fee and insurance fees.

Gymboree's history

Joan Barnes, a mother, established Gymboree in 1976 when she recognised the need for friendship with other mothers while taking care of her baby. Two years later, Gymboree opened for franchise and never stopped on growing. Barnes' vision was beyond fruitful as now, we lead the world in early childhood programmes with more than 700 locations in more than 35 countries.
