About Extra Help Ltd.
Franchise

Extra Help Ltd. is a versatile franchise business, originally established to offer domestic help to the elderly living independently in their own homes, but needing a helping hand around the house.

Since the business was launched in 2010, Extra Help Ltd. has extended their range of services to include clients from all walks of life, such as new parents, professionals, and anyone in need of some extra help during a difficult or busy time in their lives.

The services offered are flexible, according to the requirements of the clients and the preference of the franchisee, including:

  • Mother’s help, such as childcare, meal preparation, homework help, etc.
  • Cleaning and tidying
  • Transportation to events and activities
  • Dog walking
  • Shopping
  • Gardening
  • Small maintenance jobs

Extra Help Ltd. offers franchisees a great work-life balance with the flexibility to fit their hours around family life and other commitments, and with the opportunity to grow their business in any economic climate due to the versatility of the services offered.

Training and support provided

New franchisees will be provided with an initial 2-day residential training course, which is followed up by weekly telephone support with their allocated franchise manager during their first month in business. Ongoing telephone support will continue fortnightly or monthly thereafter, depending on the needs and preference of the franchisee, with training provided throughout the year.

Extra Help Ltd. hosts an annual conference and awards dinner to bring together all the franchisees for a memorable and encouraging night.

The ideal Extra Help Ltd. franchisee

Whilst prior management experience is useful for a new franchisee, it is not essential as full training and ongoing support will be provided. The most important qualities that Extra Help Ltd. seek in new franchisees include a good character, a caring and friendly nature, compassion, and an ethos for hard work. All prospective franchisees will be required to undergo a police check, and demonstrate a commitment to providing a top quality, reliable, and trustworthy service to clients of all backgrounds, but with a particular passion towards helping the more vulnerable members of society, such as the elderly, in harmony with the values that Extra Help Ltd. were founded upon.

Extra Help Ltd.'s history

Extra Help Ltd. commenced business in 2010 when managing director Claire Robinson, with a friend, identified a gap in the market for the elderly still living in their own homes who needed a little extra help but without the need for a full-time carer. The business soon expanded to include domestic help to a wider range of people, such as new mothers, working parents, and professionals requiring additional home assistance.

Seeking a change in her life, Claire moved to the South West and opened up a brand new branch of Extra Help, starting from the bottom up. Gaining valuable hands-on experience, and utilising the business management skills she acquired from running previous businesses, Claire set up a comprehensive training program to expand the company to new franchisees seeking to run their own successful franchise.
