Travelodge received nearly 50 times as many applications than vacancies for one of its newest sites.
Travelodge’s newest site in Solihull has been overwhelmed by the amount of applications it received for just a handful of positions at the hotel.
Despite there being just 27 vacancies at the new site in the West Midlands, hotel manager Jyoti Rana said that she received a mind-blowing amount of applications for the roles, totalling around 1,000. The hotel franchise’s newest site has 82 rooms and needed to recruit dedicated individuals for a number of roles on reception, in the bar and café and on the housekeeping team. And, due to the sheer number of applicants, Rana was able to fill all of the vacancies in just one day. Speaking about the applicants, she said:
“I was so overwhelmed by the calibre of applications and I couldn’t believe the amazing response that I received for the 27 positions I advertised to join my new team. I was looking for individuals who are passionate about delivering great customer service and I am delighted that I now have a great team of local people in place.”
All of the positions provide plenty of on-the-job training, making them perfect for those just beginning their careers in hospitality or seeking a change. Rana added that she’s looking forward to starting training with the team to ensure they’re confident and ready to provide great service when the hotel opens in early February.
The new hotel will feature Travelodge’s signature ‘SuperRooms’, which offer guests a more luxurious stay for a price that’s still incredibly affordable, as well as its signature budget rooms. It’s the 22nd site that the hotel franchise has opened in the West Midlands, indicating there’s plenty of demand in the area for affordable places to stay.
