Subway, the fast-food franchise known for its signature sandwiches, has named a former Land O’ Lakes Inc. executive as its new CIO.
Subway has shown once again this month that it is capable of attracting the best business talent. Mike Macrie, a previous CIO at agribusiness company Land of Lakes, will be helping the sandwich chain to upgrade its digital platforms.
In his new role, Mike will be responsible for overseeing the franchise’s technology initiatives and global teams. Considering his successes in transforming Land of Lakes’ digital marketing and analytics, many expect Mike to develop Subway into an industry leader when it comes to information technology.
The announcement comes as Subway is in the middle of a big push to upgrade its digital content. Last year, the fast-food franchise announced a partnership with internet sensation Tastemade that involved a new sandwich - The Green Goddess Tuna Melt - being unveiled in over 3,000 US stores.
Subway also introduced a delivery service in October last year for American customers. Now, over 9000 stores across America’s fifty states can enjoy the great taste of Subway sandwich from the comfort of their home or workplace.
With a new CIO at the helm, Subway is sure to make further progress on its digital journey. In a media statement, Mike was keen to get across his enthusiasm for his new role.
