Skechers continues its UK expansion with a new store in Lincoln’s Waterside Shopping Centre
Skechers is set to open a brand-new store in Lincoln’s Waterside Shopping Centre. It will be Skechers 58th UK store and the search is currently underway for 12 new employees to help bring the stylish US footwear brand to the area. The store is hoped to open just in time for Christmas 2018.
The popular brand, loved by celebrities such as pop star Camila Cabello, will join over 25 other stores in the busy shopping centre. The 1,500 square feet unit will provide a large space for the brand to display its wide range of footwear, including the comfortable memory foam Go Walk range and light and flexible Go Air running shoes.
Skechers marketing officer, Simon Hussy expressed his excitement about the new opening:
"Lincoln is a growing and rapidly changing city, and we're really looking forward to opening there,” said Simon. He added that currently shoppers in the local areas in the area have to travel for an hour to visit a Skechers store and that they’re “keen to change” this with the new unit in the “fantastic shopping centre”.
Dean Cross, Waterside’s general manager called Skechers a “great addition to our retail mix”.
Skechers is continuing its expansion across Europe throughout 2018, with stores planned to open in Germany, Switzerland and Spain shortly and deals for new retail space signed in The Netherlands, Italy and Portugal. Its ambitious expansion comes at a great time for the company, having won the title of Brand of the Year 2017 at the Footwear Industry Awards. With nearly 2,500 stores in 160 countries, Skechers has grown rapidly since it was established in 1992 and achieved more than $4 billion in sales in 2017.
