Santos has described the various wood finishes it can offer its customers.

In a recent blog post, the interior decorating franchise explained,

“Wood is a time-honoured material when it comes to creating interiors with a warm, welcoming and comfortable feel. Besides, due to its very nature, it’s the perfect choice for users who seek exclusive and differentiated finishes.”

The business’s sustainably sourced natural veneered wood finishes are made by gluing thin layers of wood to boards. They end up with the same quality, appearance and properties as solid wood, but aren’t as susceptible to expansion and contraction, which can affect the structure of furniture.

No two Santos designs are exactly alike, so customers can create wholly unique spaces.

Here’s a quick run-down of the finishes Santos can offer:

  • Olive Ash - White and grey-brown colours contrast in this finish to create a characterful wood tone.

  • Rustic Oak - Santos uses European oak wood and alternates sheets with different cuts, rays and half figures, with and without knots.

  • Smoked Oak - Santos treats this European oak wood to create a ‘toasted’ effect with colours ranging from light brown to black, and finishes it with a matt texture.

  • American Walnut - This North American hardwood has contrasting grains and irregularities, including highlights, buds and areas with sapwood, and has a matte finish.

Santos also offered readers some maintenance and cleaning tips for their products. As the blog post explained, natural veneered wood is more delicate than laminate or melamine, even though it’s varnished for added protection.

Customers should try to avoid letting the surfaces come into contact with water, either in liquid or gas form. Santos suggested people cook with an extractor fan turned on, and pull kettles out from underneath wall units.

The franchise also encouraged customers not to use harsh materials like scouring pads, bleaches, solvents and stain removers when cleaning the wood; a damp cloth usually does the trick.
