Workspace franchise Regus has announced that it wants to open 100 new co-working franchises in the next five years.

Multinational franchise Regus has been providing serviced offices and meeting rooms for businesses of all sizes since 1989. It revealed late last month that it plans to open and expand into a number of second tier cities in Australia in the coming years with the launch of a new franchise package.

Regus already directly owns large amounts of office space in Australias major cities including Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane. Now, the workspace company wants to branch out into those cities that are a little further off the beaten track: Geelong, Ballarat, Townsville and Newcastle.

This announcement follows Regus arrival into the UK franchise market last year. In September 2018, the office provider teamed up with franchise experts ACCA Office Ltd to develop ten state-of-the-art Regus centres over the next four years. With the news that Regus is now franchising in Australia, its clear that franchising has become the main driver of Regus expansion strategy.

It was back in 2000 that Regus announced that it was branching into the franchise market for the first time. Back then, the companys founder Mark Dixon sketched out the new business plan: We will have different growth in the future, with franchising playing an increasing part in small towns and developing countries. We cant be everywhere.

However, until recently the B2B franchise had still been relying on direct ownership to expand its network of office spaces worldwide. The opening of franchises in the UK and Australia shows that Mark Dixons vision for a new Regus is now being put into practice.

If youre interested in becoming a Regus franchisee, the office franchise is looking for new partners here on Point Franchise.
