Martin Owen joined the Really Awesome Coffee network in February 2021, after 25 years in hotel management.
After so long working for the same hotel, Martin was ready for a new adventure in early 2021. That’s when he found Really Awesome Coffee. Recently, Really Awesome Coffee caught up with Martin and asked him a few questions about his journey thus far with Really Awesome Coffee Anglesey. The franchise asked Martin why he decided to start running a business in the network, and Martin explained that, “I needed a fresh start, and with 30 years catering experience and also front of house experience, it seemed the best option. I also wanted to step back a bit and have a change in working time.”
Martin was then asked about how he found the training and launch process, which began back in February, and he expressed that he was always made to feel at home, even during the turmoil of COVID-19. Describing his average working week, Martin said, “My Franchise Development Manager is always on hand, but I am fortunate to have a knowledge of serving large volumes of customers so it comes easy to me. I normally have a very nice, relaxed and enjoyable day trading.”
Finally, Really Awesome Coffee asked Martin what his best piece of advice would be for someone looking to enter the world of franchising for the very first time. For people interested in a coffee van franchise, Martin said: “Research your area and, if possible, get to go out on a van or vans for a few days. Also, if you can get experience working in a coffee shop or bar, it would certainly help.”
