Ashley Wells launched his Newark branch of Really Awesome Coffee in April 2021, and he recently sat down with the franchise for a chat about his time, so far, as a franchisee.
Really Awesome Coffee is an extremely supportive and caring franchise network, and the coffee van franchise was happy to sit down and check in with Ashley after just over half a year in business together. Prior to investing with Really Awesome Coffee, Ashley revealed that he “worked in retail for 22 years before deciding the time was right this year to start my own business”.
Ashley found Really Awesome Coffee because, in his words, “My good friend Kevin Bone left the company we both worked for at the time three years ago to start his Really Awesome Coffee franchise in his home town of Gainsborough. We kept in touch and he always spoke highly of the franchise and the lifestyle it offered.” On Kevin Bone’s recommendation, Ashley decided to get in touch “with Kevin Haswell [of Really Awesome Coffee] and make some enquiries”. After a “couple of length conversations”, Ashley was “sold”.
Ashley feels he’s been fully trained and supported with the launch of his business. He’s had barista training, he’s gone over start-up plans with the Really Awesome Coffee team, and he’s had meetings with accountants and suppliers. Upon launch, with the help of Vik (his Franchise Development Manager), he “had a good idea of which businesses [he] wanted to target”, and enjoyed a “very healthy starting round” as a result, demoing the van’s coffee-based wares to all the right customers.
Post-launch, Ashley said, “I speak to Vik every week. He is a great support for any reason. When he comes out for support visits he makes great suggestions for products and has helped me add in some sites which are helping me achieve my sales targets Andy (also a Franchise Development Manager) was also very helpful when he came out for a support visit and gave me some great ideas which I have implemented.”
Essentially, Ashley fleets that, “The team at Head Office are all fantastic.
