Razzamataz gives scholarship to Chester girl for more than 100 hours of free performing arts tuition.

A budding new star of the stage, screen and radio has been awarded a free scholarship with stage school Razzamataz. The scholarship was part of a competition hosted by The Stage, the UKs longest running and most highly regarded performing arts newspaper, which looked to find the most talented youngsters in the UK and give them a chance to access proper tuition.

Theatre school franchise Razzamataz is part of The Stages national network of partner schools and it has been offering scholarships in association with the publication since 2010. The scholarship scheme gives children and teenagers from poorer backgrounds the chance to access expert training in the industry, a privilege they wouldve otherwise missed out on. Those hoping to bag the scholarship had to submit a two-minute video showing their favourite style of performing arts covered at Razzamataz, which included musical theatre songs or dances, a drama piece, pop singing or street dance.

The lucky winner was nine-year-old Lois Donaway, who blew judges away with her singing talents and confident appearance that showed her passion for performing. Shell now be able to join the part-time stage school and enjoy learning more about performing arts with her local Razzamataz in Chester. Lois said that she was thrilled to have the chance to attend the group thanks to the scholarship.

Im so happy Ive won this scholarship. Being from a small village, there are not a lot of opportunities in musical theatre, so Im so excited to have won this scholarship so I can improve my skills and meet some new friends with the same interests as me.

Since it was set up in 2000, Razzamataz has been offering children the chance to develop their performing arts skills, to build their confidence, friendship groups and talents in equal measure.
