Last month, the UK’s largest Minuteman Press franchise in Bath purchased its first state-of-the-art Valiani Optima V 250 cutting table. The Rolls Royce of cutting tables allows for simultaneous and multiple functions such as dealing with multiple sheets of paper, cutting to creasing, perforating, embossing, plotting or writing and drawing seamlessly. Not only does this machine work with larger-sized sheets of paper, gather up to 15 SRA-3 sheets cut in one pass, handle materials such as thin card to rigid PVC, it features applications that frame mount-board cutting, boxes and displays contour cutting, embossing, stickers and it also creates prototypes, marketing products and mock-ups.
Dave Dixon, Minuteman Press sales and marketing director said: “We were usually cutting short-run packaging and signage by hand but it’s much quicker and easier now we’ve taken that out of the equation.
“We were also sending some of the short-run packaging work out for die-cutting so bringing all of that in-house is a lot better for speed and cost straight away.”
Minuteman Press Bath first set eyes on Optima V 250 at Drupa last June. It was love at first sight, and before they knew it, they hoisted off to the Valiani factory in Italy to test it. It did not take long before they realised the Optima V 250 had won over Zund and their investment decision was made instantly. Dixon adds: “Almost immediately we picked up a job requiring cut tabs within a report and cut lettering from rigid PVC – the Valiani was able to handle that very quickly and very easily.” “In the packaging market, we are talking to a number of companies about test cartons that they want to produce. The Valiani gives us a very cost-effective solution to producing such ultra-short proofing runs.”
Minuteman Press franchise in Bath has a 15-member staff and a turnover of around £1.2m.
