Stephen Hemsley, Executive Chairman of Metro Rod’s parent company, recently shared some promising trading updates from the first half of 2021.
In an interview with Proactive London, Stephen Hemsley sat down to discuss the success of Metro Rod so far in 2021. The drainage franchise has seen record system sales figures so far this year, particularly during June.
Stephen explained that, “The first quarter of this year was still pretty flat year on year, albeit we were lapping the first quarter of 2020. [...] We were still in some measure of lockdown, although it wasn’t as bad as the 2020 lockdowns, but as soon as we came out of that, things really started to accelerate.”
Accelerate is absolutely the right word to use, as by June, Metro Rod’s sales figures were up 41% on 2020. Stephen explains that this rise occurred because many Metro Rod customers simply came back. Offices and retail premises were reopened up and down the UK, and demand surged with this reopening. Hospitality is yet to bounce back with the same vigour, but as restrictions continue to ease, Stephen is confident that growth in this area will follow during the latter half of 2021.
All in all, Stephen is happy not just with the current state of Metro Rod, but with the franchise’s potential for growth into new areas and services. He said that, “In the first half of this year, Metro Rod franchisees did as much business as they did in the whole of 2019 and the whole of 2020 combined.”
If, like many during the COVID pandemic, you’ve been rethinking your career, and you’d like to be your own boss, Stephen urges you to consider franchising, which is one of the safest ways to go about business ownership. “We’re seeing a lot of people inquiring about [making a post-COVID career change], and that is flowing through into very strong recruitment.” Find out more about investing with the growing drainage franchise via its profile page, linked above.
