Metro Rod has announced the sale of one of its London franchise units and is looking for an ambitious investor to take the reins.
After having bought the South East London drainage franchise branch in 2010, the current owner is looking to retire and hand over their profitable business to another capable investor. Last year, the unit, which encompasses both the Metro Rod and the Metro Plumb brands, generated a turnover of £375,000, and is now on the market for £240,000 plus assets.
The buyer will benefit from the business’s fully furnished office, as well as its electric heating system and facilities including a kitchen and toilets. The property is available on a rolling contract, which the new owner could use if necessary.
Plus, there are three fully-stocked vans, camera equipment and stock, and the branch currently has a workforce of three drainage engineers and one office manager. So, the buyer should be able to get up and running fairly quickly.
Also included in the franchise package is the unit’s existing territory. It has a population of around a million people and over 28,000 businesses, and a good balance of residential and commercial opportunities. The previous owner has established relationships with a number of clients and sales were split 70/30 between national accounts and local businesses.
South East London is a highly desirable area with a large number of businesses in the retail and hospitality sectors, providing ample sales opportunities for the new owner. Since the previous franchisee bought the franchise unit in 2010, it has seen considerable growth, particularly during the last five years.
