The owners of Mathnasium Roslyn, New York, have launched a new centre in Port Washington.
Mathnasium co-owner, Alan Flyer, said "We're excited to bring Mathnasium to Port Washington - to my hometown." He continued, "We've been looking for the right time and place to do this, and today is it!"
There are over 24 Mathnasium locations across Long Island and the tri-state area and a massive 900 centres across North America.
"We've been serving the Port Washington community from our Roslyn location for over eight years," Flyer said. "And now Port has a centre of its own."
Flyer graduated from Schreiber Senior High School in Port Washington and lives in East Hills.
Co-owner, Suneet Jain, said "I'm looking forward to being a part of the Port Washington community. It's a great town with a vibrant community. Mathnasium of Port Washington hopes to be an integral part of that."
Jain has more than six years of experience working as a senior instructor at the Roslyn Mathnasium and has been a secondary school maths teacher for the past two years.
To add to the excitement, The Greater Port Washington Business Improvement District (BID) awarded a $2,500 Façade Rehabilitation Grant and a $2,000 New Tenant Bonus Grant to the tutoring franchise, which is located at 938 Port Washington Blvd.
The Facade Rehabilitation Grant Program is implemented to help property owners and businesses within the district that are hoping to rehabilitate their exterior building facades.
The purpose of the New Tenant Bonus Program is to help organisations starts businesses within the district.
“The grant money awarded to Mathnasium was used to pay for a portion of our sign and offset the cost of books, prizes and other educational supplies. We look forward to bringing this successful and growing franchise to the residents of Port Washington,” Flyer said.
Mariann Dalimonte, the BID’s executive director, said: “Our organisation is very thankful to Mathnasium for choosing Port Washington as their home.”
