Senior care franchise Home Instead has been running information days for the elderly population in West Yorkshire.
Senior care franchise Home Instead is looking out for its local residents. Home Instead Senior Care Ilkley, Skiption and Settle recently held an Older People’s Information Day. At the event, several local businesses provided helpful information on later-life services.
The complications that come with getting older are sensitive topics which many people don’t want to discuss. But Home Instead made it its mission to provide a space where people can learn about their later-life options and the help available to them.
The information day was hosted in Burley-in-Wharfedale and had stands from local businesses and partners, including Ison Harrison Solicitors, The Memory Tree, Burley-in-Wharfedale Dementia Action Group and more.
Social distancing measures were adhered to and visitors felt like the event provided a Covid-secure environment. The organisers also checked temperatures and no groups larger than six were able to attend.
Kathy Myers, Community Representative from Home Instead, said:
“It’s important not to forget about older people and the help they need, especially during a time where the ongoing pandemic is posing additional risks to the health of seniors. We were happy to be able to support older people in our community with this event, raising awareness around older age and the help available.
“Visitors commented on how useful it was to have various providers in one place, so that all their different questions and queries could be answered easily. The day received positive feedback and we feel it went successfully; we are planning to run many more across the local area when lockdown restrictions ease.”
