Papa John’s franchisees are aiming to take over their local area soon as their fourth store gets ready to open for business.
Papa John’s is well-known for the expansion opportunities it helps its franchisees access, and brothers Atif Maroof Zar, Umair Ramay and Amir are a fantastic example of this. The ambitious trio are getting ready to welcome customers to their new store in the Kingswood area of Bristol and are looking ahead to the opening of their fifth location of the pizza franchise in early 2020.
Speaking about their rapid expansion plan, Atif explained:
“Being a multi-unit franchisee is hard work but there is more potential to develop. Our aim is to become ‘bigger and better’ and only Papa John’s offers this chance for expansion! As a team, myself and my brothers work well together to manage all the stores. Umair is focused on staff, looking after recruitment and timetables to ensure we have the right people working at the right time. Amir manages the food ordering processes and I oversee the operations and marketing of the business. It’s a real family affair!”

Speaking about how his previous career lends itself well to his franchising journey, Atif revealed:
“I worked at two rival pizza firms previously and also as a manager at a Papa John’s store before deciding to become a franchisee in 2017. With Papa John’s, it was clear that the food quality was much higher than any other brand and so we expected to sell more pizza and we did! Hinkley was the first franchised outlet. It came up for sale and I went for it! We also run Redditch, Bromsgrove and now Bristol Kingswood.”
He concluded by outlining how his franchisor has made the ambitious expansion plan possible.
