Barking Mad hosted its second annual dog festival which saw dogs and owners have plenty of fun in the sun.

Barking Mad hosted a day of four-legged fun that brought together pets from across the country. The second annual Barking Mad Dog Festival took place at the Thompson House Equestrian Centre in Standish, Wigan on the 13th of July.

Hundreds of people turned out to celebrate the fantastic event, which aimed to raise money for local horse charity Henrys Helping Hoof that helps rehabilitate and rehome horses and ponies that have been treated poorly or abandoned by their owners.

There was lots to see for those who attended the event, which was set up by dog and pet franchise Barking Mad. Dog display teams put on a fantastic show, while other spectacles including dog agility, hoopers (dogs jumping through hoops), working dogs who showed off their flock herding skills and a fun dog show for all the family.

In addition to the doggy delights for people to watch, there were plenty of things to do for the smallest members of the family. These included a bouncy castle, trampolines, a mini train and various food and trinket stalls for people to browse.

Admission was £3 for adults and £1 for children, with most of the money going to the fantastic cause. It was the second year that dog sitting franchise Barking Mad hosted the fun event and it hopes to continue doing so in the future.

Set up in 2000, Barking Mad has grown into one of the UKs most trusted pet sitting franchises. It was launched as an alternative to kennels after founder Lee Dancy realised how stressful kennels can be for pets and that there was a serious lack of other options for pet owners in the UK.
